I was made redundant back in February, along with a lot of other people I know. I'm sorry to hear you too l3v1ck, and wish you luck finding something soon. I'm pleased to say I was able to find something after 4 months and it's going very well. I've just had my assessment this week, and as of January I'll be off probation and on full pay. I found my new job through Monster. |

I'd like to qualify my vote by saying that I very rarely did overtime when offered before, now overtime is very rarely offered bscause the work just isn't there. So no my pay hasn't been affected but for the OT hounds at a well known national transport company who have green lorries they are suffering. |

I'm self employed and business has never been better. However, that could change at any moment, and many, many people I know in the industry have been made redundant, so if I do go under, I don't hold much hope of finding anything. |

Sorry to hear that L3v. I've kinda been out of the job market for knocking on 2 years. I am, however, working minimum wage for a few hours a week at the moment. So that's something. |

I'm still on probation, I started my new job in July, with 6 month probationary period, so I won't be "secure" until January. On the other hand, things are starting to look up. |

We had a round of job cuts back in May, but most were filled with early retirement and people finding jobs elsewhere - there were no compulsory out of the 70-odd that were lost. We're still going through a lot of reorganization, but the stuff I'm doing is kind of important (enough to warrant £14 million investment in new machinery). Although it's always a possibility, I don't think I'm at risk of being made redundant as I'm good at what I do and I'd be hard to replace. |

Sorry to hear your news Andy, hope you find something soon. I guess I'm in the fortunate position of being in a steady job and being "support" staff that the company just can't do without. It's not massively well paid but my salary has stayed the same and I never do overtime anyway. A number of people have been made redundant from the company, but that was mostly due to a change and streamline in processes, rather than the financial climate. I am also lucky enough to work for a global company, who are still managing to make a significant profit against budget and against Last Year, my company is owned by a much larger company who also own the likes of Berghaus, Kickers, Lacoste, Mitre and the parent company is still managing to make money hand-over-fist as well. I am under no illusions about being one of the lucky few, and fortunately I love my job and am very good at it, which is a nice position to be in. |

As a self-employed bod, I have a regular "contract" in the Bat Cave. Essentially, it's dead now. That's why I went out to get the driving job as a means of getting a spot of extra cash. There are some plans for the Bat Cave, but it may be a time before they get working and feeding money back into the system. |

The council have just announced some 'streamlining' but, unfortunately, there seems to be no early retirement packages for those not under threat of redundancy. There is a planned restructuring in which quite a few management posts are being binned  but they are being replaced with 'super managers' on higher salaries  . There will be a small saving however.My main problem is that because one section is underperforming (an understatement), we are being amalgamated and the staff in our section are being tasked to help out - over and above their duties  No extra money of course  I've just taken over a job that takes approx 60% of my work time and am feeling the pressure of not delivering on my own duties. Again, I've got the opportunity for early retirement and I might just go for that if the sums work out.So, good news and bad news. I'm not out of the woods yet. Al |

Well redundancies here are fairly significant. 25% in our office. And they're trying to replace the dwindling Harrier work with Tornado work *facepalm* |

I work for 2 global companies. Luckily I'm employed by the bigger one and work at the smaller one. The company I work for specialises in audio tours so we actually didnt do too bad this year in the UK due to 'staycations' and people doing the tourist stuff here. However the museums in the US are privately funded so once the donations stopped the museums closed and we lost a lot of business. The main office in US now has 20 people out of 45 and in UK and Europe they've proposed making 50 people redundant although it's still in talks at the moment. I've been assured my job is safe but I don't take that for granted. Noticed this week a small firm by the train station is now all boarded up and when we went to see famly in Essex a factory that had been around for donkeys years was closed too. It's everywhere. Lev sorry to hear your news. I too hope you find something else soon. |
