Is anybody else out there using W7?

If so, is it just me or is there a dearth of updates?

Last ones I had were for 11/11, now with Vista I got used to regular half hourly updates so is it just me missing the updates or are there any out there?

Could we have the unlikely situation that Windows7 just works?

I had a few but mostly software/driver ones

Bearing in mind it's been out a few months already (RTM on MSDN) there are bound to be updates already that weren't discovered in the beta testing phase

But thats what I'm getting at, there were the driver and app updates from launch till the first week of November but all on a weekly basis, then a few Junk email and a couple of security fixes last week, then ........................ nothing!

Does this mean that W7 works or what?

I haven't had driver issues, program crashes, BSODs, freezes or any of the problems I'd expect with a new(ish) OS so is this Vista SP3 with the crap cut out or did MS listen?

Maybe the next OS will be a bit leaner and faster and have a default Windows Explorer that I want not the one MS give me :-) (They are getting better though)

Nope no updates for about a week now - be one shortly though as they have found a "zero day" exploit.

Win7 seems very stable so far

I still haven't installed released W7, I am on RC and can't be bothered to switch to real mccoy yet. Probably in January...
Am I missing anything by being on RC?

Not had any issues so far and been using it for a wee while now, since it came out on MSDN and before that the RC. But when Boot Camp officially supports it, no doubt Apple will find a way of making it look [LIFTED] and the net will be awash with how bad it is.

Half hourly?

I used to get them about once a month, with a couple of out of band...

Just keep your eye on the Patch Tuesday news stories, they generally tell you what is coming.

It also depends on what else you have installed on the machine, Office etc. add to the list.

I've had quite a few actually.

Every 4 or 5 days.

Weird...

=/

Maybe you're just not noticing them? I never shut down my computer so I keep getting bugged by windows to do so.

Ok so I exaggerated on the half hour bit :-)

But seriously, with Vista and MS Updates (covering Office 2003/2007) I got regular updates on what seemed like a daily basis, Security updates, fixes, junkmail updates, etc. but with W7 these seem to have slowed up, like I said none since last Wednesday.

I take it that this is a good thing?

Things do usually settle down after a service pack is released. Happened with SP1 anyway.

I think you can right-click on updates in the list and select "stop reminding me" or something along those lines.

I use Win7 and have sometimes wondered if Windows Update is actually working when over a week passes without it trying to irritate the hell out of me by forcing a restart whenever I've left the PC on for a couple of hours to defrag or back up files etc.
