It seems that the 2006 incarnation of Acorn Computers (the name being used under license) has been dissolved. http://www.iconbar.com/forums/viewthrea ... e=1#112154 From an historical point of view, Acorn Computers brought us the BBC Micro and it’s successors, and had a strong following in the UK. The name was revived in 2006 selling Windows based PCs. However, the 2006 incarnation had nothing to do with the Acorn we all know and love. Send no flowers. |

The Atom was great, I prefered it to the BBC to be honest... Maybe because you built it yourself and it felt more technical... |

Agreed. I had an Atom, and the ability to modify it was good. The motherboard cracked, (a big chunk came off on one of the corners when I dropped it) and I managed to patch together all of the rails... and it worked again! I also added a power light, volume control and a few other bits and bobs... try doing that these days ![]() Oh well... onward and somewhere yet to be decided. |

The beloved Acorn died many, many years ago. |

Yes and no. They changed name and ended up as part of Pace (set top boxes and thin clients). RISC OS was spun out into RISC OS Ltd, and there are still builders of machines capable of running the system. |
