Has anyone had any personal experience of using a Philips HS8460 (what a terrible name!) electric razor (image below)?  I'm thinking about getting a new electric razor and I'm quite taken by this range of Philips shaver. There's a good saving on them at the moment too, which always helps. Mark |

I can't remember the last time I used a shaver. I know I threw my old Philips out when I moved and I hadn't used in about 4 years at that time... I had a Braun before the Philips and the Philips wasn't bad, but no idea how the modern ones compare. I'll stick with dry shaving with my Wilkinson Sword with Titanium blades. |

That looks like an instrument of torture!  I have used the Gillette Fusion Power thingy since it came out without any problems. |

I use Wilkinson Sword shaving soap (in the blue bowl), a Wilkinson Sword shaving brush and a King of Shaves razor. It works. That 'leccy one looks quite well equipped though. |

Electric gives a much smoother shave IMO. Then again i'm half-chinese, so have ridiculously smooth skin anyways. Could help. (Also good for people who are terrified of blood!) The one pictured I had for a little while before it broke. Was really good, but the price didn't justify what it did. Got a cheaper one which does the trick. |

I also use that soap, and I am the only person I know, (in the "real" world) who uses a brush... can't remember the brand though. Having looked at the picture again I still think it looks terrifying

I use the same soap. I've got a proper badger brush & nice razor (which uses mach 3 turbo heads) |

I'm on the Wilkinson Sword Extreme razors, or something like that. I actually find the Tesco shaving gel to be comparable to the Gillette Fusion stuff in terms of effectiveness, and much cheaper

I use the Wilkinson SWord soap in the blue pot, and usually the Wilkinson Sword brush too (though I have other soap and a badger brush for 'special occasions') I had a Phillips razor a few years ago, it wasn't bad. I decided to try wet shaving, but got bored of it. I now use a cut-throat razor, best shave ever IMO, plus you get to go through the whole ritual of stropping the blade, etc...If you look after the blade it'll last you a lifetime too. As to the razor above, I've not used it or anything like it, but I remember when Dad got something similar, his moustache disappears because he didn't get the same control or something or other... |

I used to use a combination of electric shaver and wet shaving. My neck especially would get ingrowing hairs which were almost impossible to remove without scalpel blade and tweezers. What I'm trying to say is that nothing really suited my stubble and I had a constant shaving rash. Then I got myself one of these:  The results were astonishing - no rash and no more ingrowing hairs. I paid almost £200 for this shaver but I'm telling you it's worth every penny. It will last 3-4 years hopefully and I will replace it with another top of the range model. There are those who go for the Phillips triple head type and others who prefer the Braun type of shaving head but whatever you choose Mark, go for the best you can afford - it will pay for itself in the end. Only downside is the expensive cleaning cartridges but they do last a good few months. l3v - I didn't think I could have justified £200 on an electric shaver but there's no going back for me now.
