Greatest ever (non-computer) game There have been 76 nominations. All games using playing cards (52) have been listed under one entry. The groups for the heats have been randomly selected by Excel, so if all your favourites are in one heat.... tough. Round 1 will have groups of 5 or 6 in each heat. Round one is purely to sort the wheat from the chaff. You get two votes each and the top three go through. If you only want to use one vote (or none for that matter) you can. In future rounds you'll only get one vote. |

One of the tougher heats this round I think. Remember, in round one you get two votes per heat. |

I haven't decided yet, it's two out of Monopoly, Triv and Snakes for me, I've just got to narrow it down. The only one I haven't played at all is Canasta. |

Pigs and Snakes for me. Monopoly just misses out. |

Have you listed Canasta separately just because it uses two decks, or because it uses Jokers (2 x 54 card deck)? |

Or because I'd never heard of it and didn't realise it was a 52 card game? Given the other strong entries in this heat, I don't think my mistake will make much difference. I've decided to vote for Monopoly and Snakes & Ladders. Triv is fun, but S&L is a classic. |

You do know that Canasta is a card game, albeit with 2 decks rather than 1. Anyway, despite having nominated Canasta myself, of those choices I have to go for Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit. Ah the family violence that has arisen from a good old game of Monopoly. The cheating and recrimination. Trivial Pursuit is brilliant or infuriating depending on which version you're playing, although I'm sure the more recent versions seem to have significantly fewer questions in each box. |

+1 and trivial pursuit.... the latter is good for beefing up on useful pub quiz knowledge |

I voted Snakes and Ladders. I absolutely hate "trivial pursuits", in no small part because it often confuses "science" with "history". "In what year was Helium invented" is not a f*cking science question! That aside, trivia is worthless! There's no intelligence to it. I despise trivia. Filling your brain with useless trivia is a moronic waste of resources! It reminds me of the worst kind of pub quiz where everyone is barred from having any fun whatsoever, and the judge is a pretentious conceited knob who gets half the answers wrong or words questions in an ambiguous and imprecise manner, and then acts like Hitler if you dare to question his "wisdom". I don't really like monopoly either, although it is a pretty iconic game and deserves to get through. Snakes and Ladders however, is an original genre setting classic that will be forever the example that other luck based board and dice games aspire to become. I've played so many variants of it (mostly involving zombies) that I've lost count. It's an excellent way to distract a few people age 2 to 200, with all the thrills of gambling without any of the sin. Unless you're placing bets on it, which is uncommon. I'd rather play Canasta though. Excellent game, and I hope to see it do well in a card game poll soon |

+2 I was only able to select one option in the poll. Is that right? |
