I'm really missing my dear old Jezebel right now, because my feet are cold. I've thought repeatedly about getting a Jess II but my life doesn't really lend itself to taking 100% care of her. I'm usually out from 8:35 - 18:00 and I go on holiday for a week each year. My friend has said he doesn't mind feeding her, and he looked after MK I just fine but it seems like a bit of a liberty. So, should I get a cat? |

You're a geek... make an automated feed machine! Having had my dog put down yesterday I don't know if my parents are going to get a new dog, I don't know if it would be the same having a different dog in the house. |

Get another one JJ, but only when you stop thinking of it as 'getting a Jess II'. We used to have a cat, well it was the neighbours and it basically lived with us but they moved and took it away. We got our own and it is completely different. I'm afraid Jess won't come back but you really should get another one but be ready that it will be utterly mental in many other ways.

+2 from Jarvis & Sylvester Also I'm not sure if it is still a problem or not, but there used to be one with people getting pets for xmas which were then dropped off at a shelter early in the new year. Hold out for the january sales and you pick up a real bargain. Off topic, but I have really bad wind atm. Must have been the gammon, eggs, tomato, cheese, pineapple and fried bread I had for dinner yesterday.

I forgot to say JJ, what with the GFs mum and dad in different parts of Europe, we spend several weeks away each year. Having someone to come in, feed them and give them 10 minutes of fuss seems fine. They sleep for about 20 hours a day if they're on their own, they don't get that bothered although they are pleased to see you when you get back. As for feeling like taking a liberty, well offer them something. Our friend never wants anything but we always give her something or force money on her, it's much cheaper than an "official" cat sitter and I prefer the cat having someone she knows come around. We also cat sit for her from time to time so it can work quite well. Your friend wouldn't offer if they didn't want to. |

Totally. We're lucky that both immediate neighbours are also cat lovers, and happily look after the moggies when we're away for more than a few hours. They don't want anything for it, but we buy them silly gifts as a thank you. |
