From here: Clicky

Some little forgotten gems in there.

Anything else you'd like to add to that list?

Why 2000-2009? Why not wait until next year and do the first decade of the 21st Century? :?

Technically, 2000-2009 is the first decade, Dave. 2010 would be the first 11 years. ;)

But we start at 1AD and move forward, there was no 0AD, so surely the decade always starts at 01? :?

Fail.

Dave is correct. The year 2000 is technically in the 20th Century unless someone would care to invent a year 0.

Thing is, 2000 to 2009 is a ten year span, or a decade.
2000 to 2010 would be eleven years, and not a decade.
They'd need to go 2001 to 2010. Which they can do next year. ;)

That is what I meant, next year is the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. 2000 to 2009 is just a 10 year span or decade, but not the first complete decade of the 21st Century...

If you're the kind of person who insists on this or that 'correct' use... abandon your pedantry as I did mine. Dive into the open flowing waters and leave the stagnant canals be... Above all, let there be pleasure!—Stephen Fry

While I admire Mr Fry's release from the bonds of pedantry, I enjoy mine.
