OK, as part of my Dissertation I need to do a Literature Review.
Now my problem is thus: I'm supposed to discuss previous research in the area I am researching. My problem is that I can't find any (which TBH doesn't surprise me at it's not a "priority area"), and I'm not sure there are any. (My area of research is whether current rights afforded to consumers in terms of software are sufficient and meet the expectations of consumers).
There is not much information available to consumers on what their rights are when it comes to software, and I believe this is because it is such a legal grey area and the government have failed to address the issue.
What I could do with is some advice. To make up for the lack of research I'm thinking about discussing the following instead:
UK Law (as it stands now).
EU Law (as it stands) and what little research I could find into the area done by the Commission - a Green Paper on possible reforms to re-write Directives to cover software.
New Laws (e.g. the incoming Consumer Rights Directive)
Considered (and published) opinions of industry umbrella groups and consumer groups.
The returns policies of major retailers (both those covered by the DSR and in-store), and then some case studies where these have been altered by the OFT for being unfair
I also considered discussing some county court cases, but trying to find them is almost impossible because county court cases aren't typically reported.
Some comments/suggestions/criticisms (or even some research you know of that I don't!) would be welcome.
