Just watching Kill it, Cook it, Eat it on BBC three. This episode (the last of the series) is about offal. Apart from kidney and liver I have never eaten any before. They mentioned a few facts. It's very cheap compared to the more usual meat cuts. It's usually very low in fat and high in protein. Made me curious. Have any of you eaten it? Have you ever bought it from a butcher at prepared it yourself? Any other comments? I'd actually like to try this... http://www.cookitsimply.com/recipe-0010-01l133.html

Definitely. Try it steamed served with boiled potatoes, steamed kale and a little of melted butter over it. Follow with apple crumble and custard. Very nice P.S. If you must drink alcohol with it, try a good quality blond lager or a Carignan / Tempranillo

Kidney, liver, heart, sweetbreads (pancreas), heart. I suppose skin counts, and chicken feet too
I always enjoy watching the show, the killing really doesn't bother me having worked in a butchers for a number of years. The prep is interesting though
Would try brains I reckon

Never had offal on its own, but there's plenty in faggots and haggis, and I like them

Firstly, offal is not meat. Secondly, offal is awful.

Liver, kidney and haggis (which contains lung amongst other things IIRC). Also had tongue but only the type that goes in sandwiches. I'll try most things but I'm not too keen on trying tripe. Something that has to be processed that much just to make it edible really shouldn't be eaten.

I worked for a firm that made meat pies and stuff, but they stopped and went into cakes and deserts. Anyway, originally they used to buy meat and offal from a firm called LA meats. So one woul thing it was just like LA Sports, LA fitness or LA gear or something, Los Angeles, a bit of Americanisation for he burgers and hot dogs. Turns out the guy who started the firm had a sense of humour and LA stood for 'Lips and Assholes'.
Also a firm that made Haggis for some ready meals another firm I worked for, once rung up and said the delivery was delayed as the were waiting for a delivery of Pigs Lungs to put in them.
Lungs ! Not nice !
