Pending isn't bad, it just means your order is processing or waiting to be processed.

Did you check whether the site did international delivery? Whats the website?

They are likely to accept Visa Electron if they payment went through. Did you get a receipt or confirmation email?

In that case I can see no reason why your order 'wouldn't work'. Did you get anything to confirm it had gone through?

I know standard Visa Debit cards can be used to make payment on any site showing the Visa symbol (even if you don't have any money in your account).

Visa Electron requires that you have sufficient money in your account when the transaction occurs so unlike other Visa transactions the site will wait for confirmation that money is in the account rather than processing the order on receipt of authorisation for the card.

Having said that I've a feeling that not everywhere that accepts Visa also accepts Electron cards.
i.e. Amazon list Visa and Visa Electron separately as accepted payment methods.

I can't see that image from here, but I guess the real answer is just to wait and see! (Or phone and see if you can get a Oui Oui)

One question - are you sure that you'll be able to play the DVD's? I mean what region are they?

If they are coming out of France, they should be Region 2. A lot of sport stuff is also sent out Region 0. Either way, he shouldn't have any problems.

Should be fine. They'll be region 2 (or 0), same as us. We quite often buy DVDs here to send to France to be played back on French equipment, and I watch French DVDs on my (cheap, £17, non-fancy-multi-region) DVD player.

agreed. It should be fine don't worry, because even if they don't take electron , visas are all international visa plus and they go through nearly everywhere.

When I worked in the bank, Electron was always the poor man's Visa. As Solo was to Switch. However, Switch has gone, replaced with Maestro and Natwest have moved to Visa Debit for wider acceptability. So maybe it's changed. However, I know a lot of PDQs (and fuel pumps) that still won't take Electron. Worth bearing in mind...

HSBC is moving to Visa too - I got my new Visa debit card last month, and instructions that I had to change anything that used the old Switch card.

I think he means bank details ;)
in France that'd be a copy of a bank statement with account number etc. on it, usually found at the end of the checkbook. Do you know your international bank account number?
If you need help, I'm about to translate whatever :)
