So, anyone watch the new series of Heroes on BBC 2 last night? Not bad but it'll have to go some to repair all the damage they did disappearing up their own backsides in the last series. Will probably watch the next couple and see if I can be bothered watching the rest. |

Gave up after series 2, any good ideas there were lost because the show started to make less sense than, well, Lost ![]() After that I had no idea what was happening so I gave up, there didn't seem to be an actual overall story arc, just random sh1t happening... |

I think it's season four, Dave. Like Ernie, I gave up early in season three. I found I wasn't engaging with the characters and simply didn't want to give the time to watching it I'd had for the first two seasons. |

Season 4 does pick things up a little from what went before, but to be honest, nothing beats season 1. I'm gonna hang in there for a bit, because I think they could turn it around. Also, I have a higher tolerance for mid-series blips than most. However, I'm not above giving up if it gets that bad. There are some touching moments, some new explorations of solid season 1 characters and a tighter focus on the central stories. Robert Knepper is also a very good villain. |

I've Sky+ last nights and haven’t watched it yet. fingers crossed it will be a vast improvement over season 3 which I serial linked and only just finished watching as we approached Christmas, I really struggled with it tbh. |

I think Season 4, they sacked half the writers and they were on show-to-show probation after the flop of Season 3, so it did start to improve somewhat. That said, I never got into it. |

+1 from as far as I've seen. I think season 1 was all mapped out and that was why it worked so well, whereas everything since just seems to have been rushed and on the hoof ![]() Unfortunately you get that a lot with the comic runs it takes a lot of inspiration from ![]() |

I know season two was hit by the Hollywood writers' strike, and it seems that season three didn't pick up the pace again. |

I've been watching it over the net and I'm on episode 14 of season 4. It's not as good as season 1 but still very good. It seems to be moving towards a VERY big finish anyway. |

+1 It's a shame, I've gone from loving the show to hating it almost as much as Lost. As mentioned already, just like Lost, it vanished up it's own ar$e. |

Lost is a great show for those who are patient with it. Clearly, that's not a lot of people compared to those who watched Season 1 (or at least the premier). It's had it's problems, but they are mostly confined to season 3 with some on the shoulders in 2 and 4. Aside from that, it's classic JJ. The overarching mythology is something that a lot of people just don't seem to have the appetite for. Personally, I love it. Alias was the same and Fringe is shaping up like it. As for Heroes, it's not as good as Lost and yes, the main problems have been caused by a lack of direction following the strike. Unfortunately, the strike destroyed a lot of good shows and some that managed to hang on seem to have been seriously wounded. Heroes is one of those. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna be patient. After all, Zachary Quinto is brilliant, Milo V, Robert Knepper and Greg Grunberg are always very very good and there's always the chance it'll pull a lost and get back on track. Or at least do a Prison Break and get wrapped up satisfactorily before it gets canned. We'll see.... |

Not as great as Lost. Lost has shown it has somewhere to go. Heroes hasn't - yet. Also, the patience required is a different brand. Lost rewards with intrigue and brain food and requires people to invest time and energy in thinking. Heroes requires patience to get through crappy arcs to get to good ones. Don't get me wrong, I love Heroes. But to compare it Lost just isn't fair. It's simply not as good (bar season 1). |

Lost only has somewhere to go because it's been canned after its next season. Heroes is open ended precisely because it has somewhere to go, for the time being at least. Mark |
