To cut a long story short, was looking at a Canon Camera and the price Dell were selling them for plus the fact I had £75 off with a coupon meant they worked out cheapest, I wanted to pay 10% and then pay it off at £16 a month as I didn't have the cash handy (then) and need a new camera. Anyway, I 'ordered' it on Sat evening, and it said 'finance pending, give us 48hrs to get in touch' or something like that, been ringing them all week, and some customer services person says 'its on hold'. Obviously useless information. So anyway want to sack it all off and just pay cash I got this week for something else in a shop like Jessops. They made me go ahead with the order and issued me with an order acknowledgement and internet receipt number after completing checkout. As A. I have changed my mind and B. they are slow and useless with customer service and probably would turn down the finance anyway, can I Just sack it off tell them where to stick it, or am I at some king of obligation or something ? Not signed anything and had no contact except the automatic internet receipt/order confirmation. Cheers. |

Even if you cannot sack it off at this stage, if they send it to you you can return it under the Distance Selling regulations if it comes to it. |

I tried that once with Dell. Ended up getting trading standards involved. Friends don't let friends buy Dell. Or from Dell, actually. ![]() |

Everyone I know that has bought from Dell has had a bad experience. Why do people carry on with crap? |

Basically they would have to send me papers to sign for the finance, which I wouldn't send, I'm jsut wondering if I was under any obligation. I recently avoided buying from Dell to get a monitor, the Dell monitors are good, the sales aren't, but in this case the £75 coupon made me do it. Either way I don't want to go ahead with it. |

I recently (yesterday) had a similar issue with an order from Jessops ![]() I thought the 6 months interest free credit after paying a deposit by credit/debit card was a good deal. Nowhere did it clearly mention that if I was accepted for the credit option it would delay my order until I'd signed and returned a separate credit agreement (until I receiver the numerous confirmation e-mails). I contacted Jessops using their "contact us" option on the website and asked to cancel the order, explaining why (due to the additional delay). Jessops have cancelled the order (as they are required to do under the distance selling regulations) and I reordered paying in full by credit card. The order is now on it's way, weather allowing ![]() If you don't sign and return the finance agreement then the transaction is void in any case as it forms part of the purchase contract. If you can afford the camera and still get the £75 discount you should be able to reorder it as a separate transaction. Under distance selling regulations if you cancel an order before the product is shipped you should not be charged, if the product is shipped then you are liable for carriage costs but as long as the product is unopened you shouldn't be billed for anything else if you return it. Personally I've found Dell are fine as long as you either pay in full when you purchase a product or are a registered as a business customer. |

On any "finance" option there's always a delay because they need to send you documentation to sign. This is because such an arrangement would be a regulated agreement within the reach of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. |
