That's an odd one Caz.
I've been off work since New Year's Day and today when I went back my Mac (using Safari) recognised me here no problem.
I have my Safari set to delete all cookies and clear the cache on quitting, so perhaps you have the same?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Do you tick the box that says "Log me on automatically each time I visit"?

It logs me out every while if I don't.

I get that as well, but I have roaming profiles and it seems to be when I switch from my laptop to my desktop or vice versa...

Per session cookies?
I have the same issue. I have to select between Permanent/Per Session or No cookies the first time FF visits a site.
Unfortunately the first time I came here I hit per session, so I have to log in every time I start FF.
Normally I'd go in and delete x404.co.uk from the list in FF, however there is no x404 on the list. The cookies for this page must come from a different domain name and I have no idea what it is. I could clear the whole list, but then I'd spend ages setting them all up again.

What domain do cookies from this site come from?

Edit

Hmmm. There's actually a couple of IP addresses on the list. I'll delete them and see what happens.
