Next summer i will be taking off to take part in a 3 months Engineers Without Borders project in rural India. First question: has anyone been there? (I will be staying in the region surrounding Mumbai) Secondly: Does anyone know of good companies/places to contact to get deals on hiking gear, first aid kits, mosquito nets etc? Thirdly : Would anyone be fluent in marathi? ![]() |

Never been there, but many of my friends have. To quote from a book I once read, "amazing country, but gives you the [LIFTED] like you wouldn't believe." I've not met anyone who's been who didn't find it absolutely incredible. |

Friends have been. One went twice, the second time was quite eventful. (See sig.) Never seen the attraction personally. |

I hope that as we are staying far from Mumbai there won't be any problems. *fingers crossed* |

There was a thing on the news recently about the law changing on victims of terrorist attacks in other countries. May want to see if it will apply retrospectively for people like William. |

The school I will be teaching in is near Pune in Maharashtra. However we'll get students from all over India so I've been told that they will speak a lot of different language. However Marathi seems to be the main one there. |
