I'm not really sure where this belongs, so I thought I'd dump it here and run ![]() I don't really want one, but I'm getting a Blackberry from work so I can access my emails whenever and wherever. Whatever is wrong with my iPhone, I have no idea. Anyway, I would need this Blackberry device to work as a hands-free phone in my car. This means that it must have the option to send all contacts via Bluetooth to the car. My Sony Ericssons had this capability, but my Nokias did not. Could anybody with a Blackberry please check whether you are able to do this? Thanks, Peter. |

A company blackberry should be linked to a besserver so won't sync with your hands free apart from audio. Afaik there's no way around it |

Do you think anyone tried to sue RIM for not making blueberries or raspberries? They are being a little bit berryist ![]() Sorry Peter, after an hour long chat with the purple one, my mind is about that of a five year old...Oooo, it's raining, I wants thunder and lightning! *runs off* |

What on earth is a Besserver? I just have my contacts stored on my current mobile and would probably just do the same with the Blackberry. Thanks for your help. Peter. |

besserver = Blackberry Enterprise Server. It's basically the RIM equivalent to MS Activesync (although it can do a lot, lot more if you want). I'm not sure if that'll affect bluetooth sync or not (I bow to saspro in this respect) - but two of my bosses have BBs and bluetooth in their cars, I'll ask them about it tomorrow. I've never heard either of them complain though, and as I'm the BB 'expert' in my company, I'm usually the first to get these complaints. ![]() |

Thanks for that RedEyes. I know nothing about Blackberries and, to be honest, much prefer my iPhone. It's free of charge, so I can't really complain. Well I can actually and probably will ![]() Peter. |

I can't talk about Blackberries specifically, but pairing a phone with the hands free in your car is very much not the same as syncing. It's much more like a headset pairing, but the 'headset' built into the car sometimes does lookups against the phone's address book to show you whose calling on the display. Even if the lookup fails - so you won't be able to see whose ringing before you answer - you should at least be able to use the blackberry to take or receive calls. In fact, if the people who gave it to you are utterly dumb enough to have disabled bluetooth hand free pairing, go find you manager and point out that you won't be able to answer the bloody thing when you're driving without breaking the law, which will kind of make it much less useful.
