Greatest ever (non-computer) game

There have been 76 nominations.
All games using playing cards (52) have been listed under one entry.

The groups for the heats have been randomly selected by Excel, so if all your favourites are in one heat.... tough.
Round 1 will have groups of 5 or 6 in each heat.
Round one is purely to sort the wheat from the chaff. You get two votes each and the top three go through. If you only want to use one vote (or none for that matter) you can.
In future rounds you'll only get one vote.

Pie for me this round. I've heard of Chinese Checkers but can't recall playing it.

*shrug*

My first vote is really easy. The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game is awesome.
Seriously if you haven't got it, get it. Best played with 5 or 6 people. It might be a bit confusing the first time you play, but after that it's a barrel of laughs.

Chinese Checkers. I've played it many years ago, but don't remember much about it. Never heard of anything else.

Chinese Checkers is the one with the star-shaped board and the isometric grid.

Settlers is an exploration and city-building game which uses hexagonal pieces to construct a pseudorandom playing board.

Chinese Checkers and Settlers 8-)

What he said.

I can't really vote for games I know nothing of, so a token tick on the checkers from me.

Nope I can't vote this round either - I haven't played any of them.

I've only heard of a couple.

We've got this and it causes as much family stress as Monopoly! Great game though. Don't know any of the others.

Well if you come to the party next weekend we can all play; I've had a set since I was a kid but rarely had anyone to play against. It's like a 6 player version of solitaire, if that makes any sense :D

It gets my vote.

I have to agree with the general 'huh?' response to this section. What on earth is 'Careers'? A board game in which you do something you don't like all that much for a very long time for less reward than you feel is appropriate?

We'll bring our Egyptian cards as well and can play poker or "Spite & Malice" as well if there's time :D
