Shock/surprise early 40th Birthday Present

Postby Geiseric » Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:50 pm

Got a bit of a shock/surprise announcement at the weekend –

Went out for a meal on Saturday night with the GF and got a surprise early birthday present (BD not until March 19th), which was a Revell model of the space shuttle (I don’t do models so was a bit confused when I opened it) but inside the box was an itinery for a trip to Florida.

The plan is to staying in a hotel at Cocoa beach for 6 nights; hopefully watch the Space Shuttle ‘Discovery’ launch on March the 18th, visit the Rocket Park, Universal Studios and Sea world etc before going to Port Canaveral and catching the ‘Royal Caribbean’ cruise liner for a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas……. [LIFTED] mad if you ask me and total unexpected….

How mad is that……. The space shuttle (if it’s not delayed) is a dream come true, and I’ve never done a cruise but always fancied it….. mad mad mad….

:o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o :D :D :D :D

Seriously impressive.

I pulled a similar stunt on my wife for Christmas year before last. Model car and in the box was the key to a real one parked around the corner.

She still hasn't forgiven me. :D

That is an awesome present.

My parents saw the Shuttle launch from about 20 miles away in their hotel. They said it was breathtaking even that far away as it just lights up the sky.

I know I'm very lucky and still in shock...... mind you if this weekend is anything to go by I may not get to see the shuttle go up! Endeavour was meant for a Friday launch but was delayed until this morning.

Lucky guy. Glad you'll (hopefully) get to see the Shuttle launch before it is decommissioned (aren't they all on their last launch cycle?).
