I recently got a 2nd hand iphone 3G and a PAYG sim. After a few deliberately confused phonecalls, primarily to transfer my number to the new sim, my provider arrived at the conclusion that I had bought a new phone from their store and promptly activated a 12 months free web and wi-fi bolt-on. :D

Have you blagged a bargain recently?

I once got an upgrade to a free HTC phone through the Carphone Warehouse on an Ornage contract.

I then got a phone a phone call a couple of weeks later from Orange telling me I was due an upgrade.

I told them I had just upgraded through CPW and they told me they had no record of it.

I phoned CPW and they said they had passed all the paperwork through.

Phoned Orange back and told them and they allowed me to upgrade anyway as they had no record of the upgrade.

Got another free phone on a contract upgrade about 2 weeks after my first :D

Special connection to my AV receiver using a DIN plug instead of USB etc.

Something like

That, but slightly different, and free!

Why?

At no point did I claim that I had purchased the phone new, or from them. They made of mess of my number transfer, which was the starting point for all the phone calls. All I did really was let them tie themselves in a knot. ;)
