My parents have a vineyard and the total areas is such that HMRC are now taking quite an interest. As such they will now have lots of paperwork to fill in. The easiest option is to remove one row of vines as the area will then be below the threshold, but this will leave them with one row of supporting posts and wires.

Having a browse on freecycle last night and someone is giving away loads of raspberry plants, result.

Freecycle FTW! And raspberry vines = potential jam!

Some of the things offered are mad.

I also can't believe what people expect to be given and how rude some people can be. I offered a Telly to a wanted and said to the woman she'd have to pick it up. I said could she come at about 12 on Saturday as I had people coming over and a few bits and bobs to do, plus I like a lie-in on a Saturday morning. Anyway, she said okay, then rang back to say can we make it 10. I said, fine. Wife told me at 9.30 that there were some people sitting in their car outside. I took my time about getting up and having a shower, then went down to see them at 10.

After they'd gone, switched my mobile on to see that I had about three missed calls from them and they'd been sitting outside in their car since 9! I clearly said no earlier than 10…

Just looked at today's postings and someone's written a poem!

I gave away a catflap
A little while ago
But now my son's own kitten
Has no way out to go

If only we had known that
A little down the line
Our son would need a catflap
To serve his own feline

The one he has is broken
And should be put to rest
It's been in place a long time
And now it's past its best

He has two cats to use it
Tho one is much too daft
It doesn't like the way it's
Door goes 'fore' and 'aft'

If you don't need your catflap
He'll fit it on his door
The kitten will be able
To come and go once more!

Freecycle is such a useful site. Great for misers and greens who want to do the right thing.

Corrected for accuracy. I subbed to Freecycle for a bit and found the whole thing repulsive. Loads of people just asking for stuff. My other half likes it and keeps telling me I should “Freecycle” stuff. I’d rather give it to Oxfam and have the charity benefit.

I would prefer if it was just offers. Just last week.....

Yeah, I agree - just offers would improve the system.

+1, although with my telly, I couldn't be bothered to offer it as I didn't want to be inundated with emails and calls, just thought I'd pick the best "wanted". On the whole though, I agree, some people are just so damn greedy. "Wanted Sofa, Armchair, Cooker, Fridge, Freezer for new house" always makes me chuckle.

I thought about putting a joke one up. "WANTED: Bugatti Veyron in good condition, with low mileage and tasteful interior. Can collect"

That would be worth quite amusing. At least it'd be obvious it was a joke.

While some of the wants are a bit cheeky overall it’s a great idea. We do give stuff to the local Charity shops but some of its not ideal –The other month we got a new TV stand so got rid of the old Ikea one we had been using . Not any good for a charity shop and no real value on e-bay but had someone come round and collect on freecycle within a couple of days

Generally we go along the lines of
Friends 1st dibs
Worth something – E-bay
Misc items – Charity shops
“worthless” & so would go to the dump – Freecycle
Finally Dump
