What's happened to this? Saw about five or six episodes, then it stopped. I remember the announcer saying there would be a break, but this is ridiculous. Have I missed something? There just seem to be repeats of the first few episodes on all the time.

Probably the same thing that happened with FlashForward. Ch5 showed the first half of the season and then stopped because there was a mid season break in the US and CH5 was showing them about 2 days after
Perhaps one Stargate is shown again in the US, Sky will start showing them again.
Or it could be something else entirely.

Part two of the 1st season should be aired in April iirc, probably when the re-runs of part one finish.

Yeah, they said it was a mid season break, but it's been two or three months. TBH, I think I'm losing interest in it.

There was actually 10 episodes of this aired, if I recall correctly.

Possibly an extended break just in case it wouldn't take off and the studios decided to can it. :?

According to Wikipedia "A second season of 20 episodes was announced by Syfy in December 2009.".

Yeah, just done some googling and I haven't missed any. TBH, I think I thought it was something it wasn't. I was quite intrigued by the whole thing, but it just seems to be bumbling along without answering many questions, then has stopped for ages halfway through a series. Plus it's been looking less and less slick as it's gone on. Robert Carlyle was a big draw for me, but I think he might have chosen a bit of a turkey.

Why is everyone so bloody obsessed with answering questions?! Can nobody just enjoy a show any more??

Not really. I like a story. I want to know what the story is without having to wait six years as I have with Lost, or never finding out with Invasion.

Caught up thanks Mark, caught up.

And I re-watched for enjoyment primarily and to refresh my memory, not for "answers".

I think the move to arc based shows is a mixed blessing. We touched on this a little while ago in another thread. Any story should have a beginning, a middle and an end. Any school kid can tell you that. With soaps, there is no end (nor a clue of what will happen beyond the current scripts). In other words, it's made up as they go along. With a lot of recent shows we've been promised definitive arcs. Lost is the primary suspect, but this has happened to a greater or lesser extent, with a lot of shows. Supernatural is a great example of a show working to an arc, that includes stand alone and arc eps and does so well. People are happy to watch Eastenders in their millions, not knowing what will happen, not wanting answers, just along for the ride of what happens that particular week. And yet somehow, we demand that other shows have it all planned it from the word go. Fact is, that's bloody rare. The idea of a beginning, middle and end for a network television show is really very recent and fundamentally against the model of advertising, ratings and continuing seasons that has furthered television production in the US for decades.

Most shows have a concept and then use it as a story-telling device week in week out until they get cancelled. So if you like the concept, you watch the show. You hopefully enjoy it and then when it gets canned, you hope the writers get enough time to give it a nice send off.

I like arcs. I love Supernatural right now. I'm excited about CK becoming the Man of Steel. BSG was some of the best tv ever written. But sometimes, it's just good to have a show with a central premise that you find interesting and just see where it goes....

The never ending aspect of soaps is precisely why I hate them. I also hate it when sports commentators start an anecdote or opinion, then are sidetracked by events on screen, then never come back to it. I just like to see things all neatly tied up and explained.
