So I had an original iPhone, it was ok, I liked the multitouch browsing etc.
Ordered a iPod Touch today, 32gb 3g version, nice and cheap with 7 month + warranty from Apple (the apple care seems like a major rip considering it doesnt support battery + accidental damage), got iTunes on my laptop (so my touch syncs with my lappy, my classic syncs to my pc) and been looking at the App store....
WHO DESIGNED THIS GOD AWFUL PIECE OF ****?
There is no navigation in the main window. This is fine if you know what you want, but if I want to browse apps I'm limited to the 100 free/paid top list and whatever chod the staff seem to like or some 'quick' links to winter themed games. No way to filter ANYTHING past the paid/free top 100 into free only or to link to a demo.
Took me 10 minutes to find the menu system, it's in a very unintuitive place and easy to miss. A ddb for a main menu is not an acceptable thing to use. It's almost as if an ADD suffering Apple designer made the UX and used everything in the wrong place on purpose to make it unintuitive for the 'cool market.
The content. How is 101 sexual positions a game? How unoriginal must one company be if all they release are 20+ RPG games that are essentially the same, the theme differs as does the starting bonus depending on how much you pay.
More b*tching and moaning to come when I get it Wednesday.... first thing will be changing the earphones!

7+ month warranty, is it second hand?

Unwanted customer returns, so warranty period was started from original date of sale but item was returned unused.

Darn, wish I'd known, been looking for something to do with my iPod Touch... Most warranties exclude accidental damage and batteries - or the batteries get covered for 6 months to a year... Why do you sync the iPod and Touch on different computers? Not that you can't, just seems strange, I sync both Touch and iPhone with my iMac. Drop down the menus and select the categories you want to search for? Enter something in the search box? I do agree. The older system used up more screen space - the drop down menus appeared on the left - but at least it was logical. Sounds like PC gaming and XBox gaming to me as well... Need for Speed? The various D&D games that made it to the PC? As to the sexual positions, I'm surprised that wasn't part of the smut-kill last week. Agreed. They are dreadful. I spend 99% of my time listening to my iPod and iPhone over the speakers - mainly because I listen to it in the car, so no headphones and I can't get an adapter for my entertainment unit.

I know that, I would expect additional cover to do this though. Additional cover on my digital camera was the same price for 3 or 5 years and did cover accidental damage (possibly not batteries, but they are easily (and non warranty voiding) replaceable unlike on the Apple stuffs Plan to sync them on my main pc, but my laptop will be the one I will probably update it the most on It's annoying that as someone who uses a lot of UIs I can notice good and bad UIs and this is certainly a bad one, especially considering how much more logical (if less pretty) the older UI was. It's even worse there isn't even basic filtering on the lists they provide for excluding paid/free content. Most of what I will get will have to be from word of mouth as it's so awkward to just browse the system it puts me off. I got the adapter for my AV receiver, no idea if it will work though as the touch isn't officially supported on either my car kit (Harmon Kardon Drive/Play v1) or my AV receiver. Got 3 or 4 pairs of better earphones to use though so it's not too bad.

I must say, I too think iTunes is dreadful. I used it a couple of years ago, and it was fairly straightfoward; but now... It is shocking. The iPhone and iPod are great bits of kit, yet they are locked into this sh!tty application.
Is this really the best apple can manage?
Btw, I'm not bowled over by the headphones either, can anyone suggest a decent replacement set that doesn't cost the earth. My nephew swears by skullcandy, but I've never tried them.

I'm afraid it is. All I can say is it works like a dream on the Mac. I wonder if it's the best Apple can manage within the confines of other operating systems. *shrug*

My SkullCandy FMJ 11mm's sound good but are a little bass heavy & isolate outside sound a bit too much (very hard to hear cars when crossing the road). Grado igrado's sound great but are large & open backed

The mac version of iTunes works fine, though many have complained about the Windows version. The headphones are rubbish, but adequate for most. Plus they allow third parties to supply decent headphones.

Sorry, I may be missing something here but if it is so useless why are you buying one?

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2 ... headphon/1If they pull some sh*t like and force me to buy new headphones/adapters this I will go into my Apple store and rage the f*** out I have 2 sets of earphones, one bass oriented, one treble oriented. No way am I buying more headphones or adapters when I already have an iPod Classic that I will be using as a car stereo so I don't have to listen to the drivel that is Radio 1

It's a web experience, given they use the same rendering engine within all versions I can't see it being better on a Mac The complaint is about the iTunes store being terribly designed, I feel the complaints will be about the distribution of media more than the device itself. I can't really judge a device fairly that I havent used in 2 years, has changed considerably and has a new distribution UI without getting one, and as said in other threads, I'm interested in starting development for them.
