My bank are really pushing this software now, so I bit the bullet and installed it in Windows (since that's the only OS I truly worry about  ) and I have to say it's fairly unobtrusive. Anything for a little extra security I suppose. Has anyone else tried it?

I tried it and it gave me hell. As soon as I tried to log in into my digital banking the rapport freaked out shouting and screaming that somebody is trying to hijack my keyboard and it cut all the inputs including mouse. I had to do a hard reboot, I tried to log in again and failed again. After another hard reboot I went to uninstall that piece of crap but when doing so it freaked shouting something about the password and when I tried to input the password it cut off all the inputs again. So I had to do a system restore to get rid off it. Well spent 30 minutes of my life

It's supposed to provide an extra layer of security when you use online banking. If your bank is participating then you can download it from your bank's website for free. |

Thanks, I'm with Barclays and for a couple of years I've had a calculator type thingy that I can use online or in branch to prove identity etc. |

Yeah my bank use those in addition to this system. I find the calculator thing a nuisance TBH. |

These things are all so the bank can pass the buck if your account is ever hijacked. |

That is why they are so positive about Chip and PIN. Same reason. I use a password manager for all my accounts and by virtue of the fact that I do not have to worry about using one password for everything I can have really secure passwords. That said my bank have another layer of security so I am fine. When I buy anything online there is a clicksafe site that I am directed to by my bank. I have given that a 20 digit password as well. |

Doesn't Rapport etc just make sure you don't get "phished", does it check that the DNS and/or hosts file hasn't been tampered with? |
