Is there anybody here that lives near to Hadrain's Wall?
I only just found out about this.

Around 500 individual points of light placed at 250 metre intervals will be used to light up the 84 mile long Wall.

Epic waste of time.
If you want to see something like that, watch LOTR: Return of the king.

Phew, I thought it was going to be something permanent. Oh well whatever floats their boat.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Provided it's not throwing down with rain I imagine that'll be quite a sight and make for some good photographs for those close enough.

No doubt the majority of those will all be using flash, just like they do with a solar eclipse.

Perhaps solar eclipses would recur more frequently if they used just HTML instead...

 I know full well nobody will find that funny, but I can't help it/need help.

My first thought was a permanent installation. Vanity flood lighting is one of my pet hates, because it's evil on so many levels. As a one off event, then good luck to them. I hope it's really pretty, and then everyone can go home.

I had to read it twice, but it made me chuckle so it was worth it

Stupid idea, what will happen to the dark skies in the area? If it is a short term measure then possibly but other than that it is a waste of money.

My thoughts too, as I said above. However:

If the illustration is anything to go by, it will involve hundreds of druids baring fiery torches for one day only. Might keep them out of trouble for a while

Oh dear... I didn't get it at first but really...

Does that mean that you can't see them on an iPad?

Nottingham has a 'light night' recently with some really good light installations. But oh my god the amount of people snapping with their flash on

I was also suprised at the amount of DSLR+tripod users came out for the night

It is one night and they are going to clean up afterwards then fine.
