I am chuffed up with mine.

Three power cuts in three days and the Mac and all of it's external whatnots did not die and I did not lose a jot of data.

Best bit of external kit you can buy I reckon.

So fess up, who else has one?

I don't have one at the moment but it's a purchase I'm seriously considering.

All my stuff is on surge protectors though.
So, UPS recommendations anyone for those who don't have one yet?
I was having a look at one of these APC units but I'm not entirely sure it has enough juice for my machine and peripherals.

I have UPS, a laptop. My external HDDs are powered by USB so no problem if there is a power cut. If there is a power cut the wireless modem won't work, but I can plug in a USB one for something important. Had a power cut 9-5 on wedsnesday for planned maintenance, battery wouldn't last that long but with the notice was able to make sure I didn't need it.

That is the one I have. You don't need much juice if you use the usb link to automatically do a controlled shutdown of your machine after say 5 minutes of power outage.

I have four. The one on my main computer is relatively new, and ridiculously cheap at around £25. At that price, I think it's just plain daft not to use one.

My two older 240v units are still in use. One is on my bedroom PC which is rarely used, and the other runs the media centre. Although the battery is past it's best, it still gives about 30 minutes uptime thanks to the low power consumption of the Atom.

It used to protects the Freeview box so that any recordings go uninterrupted, but now I use a digital USB tuner.

My three cordless phones are also protected, although only the base station actually needs it and that runs on a home made 12V UPS.

Rather OTT, my illuminated doorbell is on a double UPS protection comprising a 12v and 3.6v stage.

I voted "yes".

Nothing of the sort here

I know I should, but it's just too far down the list of priorities to get purchased any time soon...

Of course, it'll jump up a few places when my desktop goes bang

I know. I paid a fair bit of cash for my Mac setup. Stupid of me not protecting it before now. Also nothing gets all FUBARed when the power suddenly fails.

Just mains power and a surge protector.

Fortunately, the electricity supply is very steady around here.

Same here. Though I have a lot of them, 19 actually. As for a UPS I might actually be getting one or two if I buy some iMacs in the next few weeks. As I have laptops at the moment a UPS is not necessary, as I have batteries on board the laptops.

At work, yes, here at home, no.

For the once a year or less that we lose power here, it isn't really a problem. The last 3 times, the computer wasn't even switched on. I do have a surge protector.

Yes, APC3000 for me (a tad overkill but was the right price)
