I thought that was an interesting take on the book market in general... Personally, I buy more (varied) books now than I've ever done ![]() Oh, and here's as good a place as any to bring up Steve Job's comment about nobody reading anymore I spose ![]() |

I would expect book lovers to be a bit more excited if there were more good books coming out. Exciting new distribution models that are largely used to punt dog [LIFTED] like Dan Brown, or some hopeless celebutard's self serving autohagiography don't really excite me much. |

I still need a printed book to ENJOY my father has a book deal going and we get great paperbacks at totally stupid prices. I have about 200 piled up for me to work through. ![]() |

I know a small publisher - and he’s very keen on the iPad. He’s not an Apple fan, but he’s seeing the iPad as a way to reach a bigger audience. He’s been ambivalent about the KIndle and Sony’s readers. I’ll probably be joining him at the book fair in London next month, and he’ll be wanting me to dig out any more information on the subject. Just out of interest, the ePub format the iPad (and other) readers use is basically a web site with some extra XML files in a .zip file. The .zip file has a .epub extension. That’s it. |

Book publishing has always been exciting if your waiting for the next instalment of a series. As for a "movie based on one of the most popular children's series", well what's new there? So many movies that have been taken from books can be quite disappointing, not all but a good number. Whilst i like the idea of having an E-book (the fact that you can have loads on one) nothing beats the feel of paper in your hands, the rustle of paper as you eagerly turn the page as a book grips you.The lovely musty smell you get when you pick up an old book. The ease of finding books on-line is a bonus but has been available for a while now, nothing to get excited about there.Giving feedback to the authors has never been something i'd considered doing. What i do miss though is a good bookshop that i can spend an hour or two in just browsing enjoying the smell of new or not so new books. I have always liked books.I still have some of my books from childhood. They are in some cases quite tatty but still very much loved.I have never knowingly thrown out a book and i never want to.Books are and always will be exciting . yours wecrookie ![]() |
