Recently I've been in bed for 11pm on some occasions and have started drinking tea every other night, all of which is unheard of for me. Oh, and my body hair appears to be growing at a rate of knots... Frankly, I'm 28 and worried

I'd like to state here and now that I will never wear slippers or pyjamas though (short of a hospital visit and it not being my choice or something)

Anyway, how are you finding getting older?

I'm old at heart, my body is just catching up...
I love slippers and dressing gowns, I drink copious amounts of tea (black with lemon if there are any), and I took up pipe smoking about two years ago...

I'm slightly bothered about the unknowing of the future, but I can't wait to go grey/white and if I get to have a walking stick I'll be happy (in my own grumpy way).

Getting older bothers me only in that I feel I should have accomplished more in my life (at this point) than I have. I do seem to be getting more of the Wogan-esque symptoms such as going upstairs and forgetting why by the time I get there, etc, and my memory has been gradually undergoing some kind of entropic decay. On my father's side of the family there is a tendency to start getting grey hair at an early age and this started when I was about 17 (though there's no sign of baldness yet) so the appearance of ageing doesn't bother me at all it's just a sense that I should be in a different situation by now.

So it's not really getting older that bothers you, it's the fact you've squandered your life?

I turned forty last month and everyone else around me seemed to think it was a big deal. To me it was another day.
Don't spend too much time focussing on getting older, it'll take care of itself without your help. Besides, you might miss out on the good stuff.

The only thing about growing older, that I sometimes think about, is the thought of facing the inevitable death of my parents. A grim prospect.

My Brain says 29 my body trys to keep up.nuff said.

Okay, So I am probably one of the youngest people here, but the main thing that gets me is that there seem to be so many more small, annoying, immature people than there used to be.

Absolutely

I think it's a multitude of things for me. Everyone's perceptions of getting older will be heavily influenced by their older relatives.

Personally:
- closer to death
- loss of youth/vigour etc
- decline in mental state

These things concern me. I'm also 28. I can't be arsed to try fixing my computers when there's a problem. I just want it to work these days. I find I fold my underwear and ensure all items match. Some o these things amuse me.

Other things are usually kmarriage/kids. I've always put this off but when I compare with some of my friends who have mortgages, famimilies and nice cars, I think I should be there too.

+1. You don't think about it at first. But when I first started to realise my own mortality and the fact that I wouldn't live forever, I realised my family would also die one day. I find it a difficult concept to grasp sometimes as I'm very close to my immediate family.

I'll generally persist to fix any problem with computers these days, though I have found myself folding up the tea towel for unknown reasons

My friends have none of the above and I know I wouldn't care anyway (though I do want a mortgage for my own ends)
