I went swimming last Friday.

I have been swimming for years and I love diving and exploring. I've done dives down to 3m plus in the past with no problems.

On Friday I went swimming. This was normal front crawl swimming and I barely went underwater. That night my head felt like it was exploding and I had to venture out at midnight to get some pain killers. At first I thought it was an infection so I got some antiseptic spray stuff also.

I had a doctor briefly check it out and she said there was no infection.

Since then it constantly sounds blocked so I can't hear as well as my left ear. Also it is ringing quite loudly. Lastly (and most weirdly) is that I seem to have a different perception of tone in each ear now.

My right ear sounds significantly higher than my right ear.

I downloaded sinegen and ran two instances of it to try and get the sound the same in each ear.

In my right ear was 1000Hz and to match my left ear I had to go up to 1023Hz in my left ear.

i.e. 1000Hz in my right ear was actually perceived as 1023Hz.

I've never heard of anything like this before. Anyone ever experienced this? Did it go? It's getting VERY annoying now.

Could it be a form of tinnitus? Certainly the ringing is characteristic, but the change in pitch is also a symptom IIRC...

Whatever trouble I have with my ears I find Aqua Ear solves the problem. It can clear blocked ears and prevent/treat infection but I don't know if this relates to your issue.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
