Order an iPhone as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday next week. Say it's a surprise and can you deliver to another address etc etc. They only bloody text him saying thanks for order and it will arrive tomorrow. FUMING!!!!!!!!!

No way, I had a similar experience with O2 when I was sorting out the GF's surprise iphone at xmas but lucky they only texted her with an apology for not being able to sort out a request as I had tried to alter her contract, brought a pay as you go in the end and stuck her sim in it.

Don't worry Caz your BF will still think you and the iphone are great....... :D

I maybe being a bit dim but why, if you ordered it, did they have his contact number to text?

I assumed it was because they had to shift his mobile number onto a new SIM/network to go with the iPhone.

Still seems like a pretty nice present to me, even if it's not a surprise any more.

Same in Germany!

I phoned them up and complained that, as I used the phone for business and could be called out in the middle of the night, I really didn't appreciate it when they started sending me adverts a 2 in the morning by text!

They took me off the list and I haven't had any since.

Yeah but that's what I actually like about them.

I remember when we switched to O2 broadband and the texting was fantastic. Kept us up to date with how far along the process it was and I could even arrange the delivery date by text.

I thought that was fantastic.

Oh yes, that bit was brilliant, but telling me my bill's due, asking am I actually using wireless and so on, gets old rather quickly

True, being reminded of direct debits that automatically go out anyway does seem a tad pointless. Swings and round-a-bouts I guess.
