With the news that Iron Man 2 has an extra scene in the credits, I was wondering how many people here actually stick around during them...

Me and my mates often look at each other as if to say, 'Well? There's a few other people still here...', at which point I usually say, 'Yeah, we'll give it a couple of minutes.' Depends on the film of course, and often we've been half way out the door when the scene kicks in (Transformers)

So what do you do in that situation?

Depends on the movie - if it is a Pixar movie, yes, because there is usually outtakes, but anything else I don't bother.

Quite often you can find out that there's a 'surprise' during or after the credits and if it seems worth waiting for then I will. In the case of Cannonball Run, the end credit outtakes are much funnier than the film itself and there used to be great behind the scenes stuff at the end of Jackie Chan films (usually stunts going wrong like smashing his head in during filming of Armour Of God). And Pixar, of course.

I waited to the very end of Cloverfield to find out what the audio clip was all about (and yes I do realise that everyone disliked the film except me) and also if my other half's nephew worked on a particular film we will hang about to see if he's listed. Sometimes he is (e.g. Avatar) but more often not and bearing in mind the duration of this almost endless scroll of names it can be a colossal waste of time. Generally I leave after the main exodus unless there's a specific reason to stay.

I always want to. I rarely do though, because it's incredibly annoying to watch when the lights are coming on and everyone is standing in your view. It's also embarrassing when 20 odd people have to climb over you.

A couple of exceptions have been animés. One I saw in Holland which has a particularly beautiful ED which a lot of people stayed for, and another was at the local screen where there were only about 5 other people - all of who stayed to the very end :D

I seem to remember an episode of Friends or some other soap, where a girl said "oh, you're one of those" when the guy wanted to watch the credits. It's generally not the done thing, especially for the blonde popcorn munchers.

You mean the Scottish comedy show about the OAPs? Did they do a film of it or are you talking about the TV show?

Really? I thought they gave up after Rab C. Nesbitt.

If I know people that have been involved in the film, then I may stay. Depends on who I'm with; some people like to for the hidden scene thing (the girl I saw Transformers 2 with is one of those) other's just want to go.
Sometimes we'll wait for the crush to abate before leaving.
So it depends.

I do - I kind of feel a moral duty to do so - though I would say that they do go on for far too long. The other half beats a hasty retreat as soon as the film ends. She cares little for the credits or knowing who was involved.

More Scottish comedy here, though same team essentially:

I'm not embarrassed by that, it just really annoys me. The people are usually so rude and tread all over your feet or barge you that sometimes it's just not worth subjecting yourself to that.
I usually only stay to the end if I'm with a certain set of friends that also stay to the end, otherwise I find that I'm left sitting there while the other people get up and leave me there.
If I know there's going to be something at the very end of the credits then I'll let the people I'm with know before the film starts so that they'll also stay.
I've found that if there's a bunch of us still sitting others will either be more courteous as they pass you or they'll leave by the other end of the seating row.

That's also a consideration, especially if it's been a full audience.

I guess "cringe uncomfortably" is a better description, but it's basically pressure of the awkward kind that makes it uncomfortable to stay without resorting to killing everyone - or at least standing up and shouting like a crazy person. I'd stay far more often if everyone was nice about it.

I haven't voted because there's not a suitable choice. I still go to the cinema and sometimes I smuggle in my own pie. Parking is included in the ticket price at my local, so there's no rush apart from the stampede. If it was more socially accepted, then I'd stay to the end more often. As it is, I'm not relaxed at all.

I wait around, but I´m not waiting for an extra scene, I´m just enjoying the music and like to see who was in the film, plus don´t like zerging out.

+ 1/2

If I know there's a bit at the end I'll stay. If I enjoyed the film I'll stay. Sometimes I'll stay just for the hell of it. Sometimes not.
