It's unlikely to ever reach a price bracket I can justify, so I voted "not for me".

If it was under £100 I'd get one, but it does not enable me to do anything I can't already do with my netbook so I simply can't justify the expense.

iPie.

I can't currently see a place for such a gadget in my life. Then again, I said that about the iPod, and ended up getting one eventually.

I'm in the same boat as JJ - it's just waaaaaaay to expensive in my eyes. I've got an iPhone already, and a MacBook. So for me, this device is not worth much more than maybe £150.

Pasty...

No seriously, will have to sit this one out - desktop mac more important right now. May grab a gen-2 if funds permit.

No spare money at the moment so though I'd like one it's out of the question. :(

Perhaps what's a 'toy' to you may well be a 'tool' to others? Or maybe 'cos you already have a real computer and a smartphone, and this sits nicely in between??<shrug>

Agreed, the iPad is not a laptop nor is it trying to be one, for me I'm always on the net and in the evening being able to do that without booting up the MBP which is frankly over kill, and the iPhone is too small for comfortable browsing.

It's not so bad. I managed well enough, being stuck in a hotel with no wifi for seven weeks. A laptop or, dare I say it, an ipad would have made the task much easier, but i think the iphone is fairly capable. It also has the advantage of portability over the ipad or a netbook/notebook.

The ipad looks nice, but I wouldn't part with more than £200 for one.

I've ordered one. Mobile tech is a big part of what I'm about, both in terms of my job and, frankly, the rest of my life. It's a luxury, there's no doubt about that, but it's a luxury I personally can justify. I'd agree it's certainly not a gadget for everyone though.

I'm somewhat interested in the people waiting for V2 though. How do you know that V2 will be significantly better than V1? It seems to me just as likely V2 will be something of a 'maintenance revision' and V3 might be a big jump. Personally, I have never understood this notion. If you have a use for a thing, then you should buy that thing. If you don't have a use for the thing, what makes you think you will have in six months time when the thing is slightly different?
