Yes thats right the CPChimps folding team entry in the chimps challenge need you.
We've got a very good chance of not coming last but need more recruits.

You can fold on PC's, Mac's, Linux boxes, on CPU's & GPU's.

Set the username to CPChimps and the team to 35947.

Please help

Erm, can I have a few more details, please?
My work Mac is on pretty much 24/7 as is my work PC.

Info on the overall project is here.
Downloads are here.

The idea is to use spare cpu cycles to fold proteins to help find a cure for diseases such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.

The Chimps Challenge is an event run by some of the big teams and is essentially a race to 20million points. Some of the teams have already finished (they have guys working in datacentres etc) but some of us haven't.

It's a great cause to be supporting.

Once the challenge is over you can either change the username to www.x404.co.uk to get us advertisement in some of the mags or use you're own username.

Anything else you need to know please post it here.

What version? Easiest way (in windows) is to check taskmanager to check cpu usage.

btw. Thanks for joining

Thanks for the quick reply. Well i downloaded version 6.23, it was the first one on the link link you provided.

In task manager it says im using 27% CPU usage. When i hover above the F@H icon it says "CPU - F@H: Working (0/1500)". Don't know if that helps :?

Is it possible to setup my gpu to fold?

I've installed and signed up on my work computer.

I figured at least something round here might as well be doing some useful work!

Are you running a quad core?

If so you can use a Virtual Machine to maximise points

If you're running a quadcore then this is a great guide. Will get 5000 points per day instead of the 800 or so the standard client does.

Thanks to everyone who's getting involved.

Yes GPU's can fold at the same time. Clients available from here

Use Fahmon to monitor the clients. (install it then drag your work directory onto the app or use the relevent section in the VMWARE guide I posted)
