not sure if anyone has done this but it's rather effective

Quote:
Speed up Firefox.

If you have a broadband connection (and most of us do), you can use pipelining to speed up your page loads. This allows Firefox to load multiple things on a page at once, instead of one at a time (by default, its optimized for dial-up connections). Heres how:

* Type about:config into the address bar and hit return. Type network.http in the filter field, and change the following settings (double-click on them to change them):
* Set network.http.pipelining to true
* Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true
* Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a number like 30. This will allow it to make 30 requests at once.
* Also, right-click anywhere and select New -> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

I thought Steve had posted this in the Internet forum, but maybe that was on the old place. Remember, this works on all supported operating systems and I wouldn't classify it as programming. The Internet forum is probably the best place, perhaps on the Customise Firefox thread.

However, it has been posted here before. Kind of:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2356&p=47529

Mind your eyes :lol:

Fairly speeded up Gamesradar, and I think it was coded by whoever it is that works on Nero :shock:

I just wish Firefox was faster loading. It’s a browser, not some bloated bit of office software.

Well look at that, I can actually tell the difference, and it's an improvement. First time I have after trying some form of "speed up your system" type stuff!
