I'd just like to express my gratitude to everyone here for not talking about the Eurovision Song Contest.
It's a testament to how great you all are here that this didn't rear it's ugly head, not even in The Meeting Place.
Thank you, one and all.

Mark

Is eurovision on soon then?

Apparently it is on soon. I have heard that Norway TV do not want to win it. May be they will be entering Father Dougal singing "My Little Pony" or have Ireland gone with that again? Apparently it cost $30 million to host so they had to sell the World Cup TV rights to pay for it. Other than that I have no idea. I thought I would watch the LOTR trilogy in one night but it is longer than I thought.

I wouldn't worry about that, Channel 4 will be showing it again in a few weeks.

Really?

I haven't seen LOTR for ages - and I still don't have the DVDs.

Yeah, they seem to show them about once every couple of months. Easy way to fill whopping great chunks of airtime I suspect. Although apparently Big Brother is starting again soon so that basically takes care of their schedule for a while.

I thought they stopped making Big Brother now? :?

Looking forward to LOTR though. :D

As the years go on I'm beginning to wonder whether the film version of LOTR, rather than being a monumental classic worthy of mulitple oscars, was in fact just simply a load of old toss with an overracting gollum, some smug elves and a constipated hobbit. In fact with the exception of Gandalf's voice, I think everything else just irritates me now. The scenes with just music and New Zealand scenery are of course always watchable, but then there are much better David Attenborough documentaries for this sort of entertainment.

I've done that a couple of times. The extended edition is something like 11 1/2 hours long. We have a "one pizza per film" rule.

Well longer than I thought. I stopped at the end of film one.

I heard, that we won. Thankfully, I still haven' heard it - which my girlfriend can't understand.

She is sick of it, but I listen to podcasts or talk radio.

Quote:
Josh Dubovie, 19, from Basildon in Essex, scored just 10 points with a song penned by Pete Waterman.

Pete Waterman has clearly lost his knack at picking hits.

Quote:
Acts from 25 countries took part in the event. It was won by Germany, whose entrant Lena scored 246 points.

Well I wonder if the voting was we must not win vote tactically so that the richest country can pay. :D
