If you open a piece of editing software (Word, GIMP, Photoshop, Excel, Notepad, GarageBand, OpenOffice, etc...) and makes some changes and then try to close the window, what then happens? What is the question you are asked? What buttons do you get presented with? |

Image has changed, do you want to save your changes. Yes / No? Or something along those lines. |

Good, thought so. One of the guys at work has decided that he doesn't like the industry standard question that has been used forever. I pointed it out after being asked to test his software and he is refusing to change it. The guy's a complete cock but I didn't think he would be able to argue against an industry standard! Prick! |

His question is...
It took me 3 or 4 times of reading to work out which to press and then I was still not sure what would happen when I pressed yes. |

I've read that 3 times, and I'm still not clear on what he means. The first question about cancelling changes - sorry, I thought I was closing the document. If I'm unsure... to what? Oh, right, cancelling changes. I guess I am, as I mentioned, I thought I was closing the document. Export the changes to review what has changed... Ok, now I'm lost. I just wanted to close the document, and be reminded that I've made changes to it, and do I wish to keep those amendments or not. Simple. One day, someone might come up with a better phrased close dialogue, but it's not today, and it's not by him. |

Thank you! At least you agree with me! This guy is still refusing to change after several emails explaining my reasoning. |

Ollie, can I suggest going over his head? I know it's not normally 'the done thing' but there's no point wasting such a lot of time over what is a patently stupid piece of implementation. |

I'd just leave it at that - you've emailed him telling him it ought to be changed. He won't change it, and you'll get a whole load of phone calls when people start using the software. Then he'll have to answer for himself to the boss. |

Hehe, I would normally but with this software, we are the users. It's a dev log software thing to keep track of our developments. I've given up and if there is a check to see if the software is ready for proper use then I know which way I'll be voting. |

But make sure that it is clear that you are against the change for the reasons stated. |

LOL, I'd forgotten how confusing the question was and I actually simplified it in my above post. Here it is... ![]() LOL! |

His wording makes him sound like a gobsh1te who tries to make things sound more complicated than they are to cover his insecurities about his own intelligence. |
