Right, please only vote if you are with the above bank and are happy with the service(s) they offer you. I spent a looooong time on the phone to the bank today, being passed from department to department. Speaking to one useless idiot to another, and not for the first time. Added to that, I'm with Abbey and I don't like the fact that they're always rebranding themselves. Just read that they're going to be re-branded AGAIN in the next couple of years. That would be either three or four rebrandings in the last five years, and it's a right pain in the back-side. The computers have only just become reliable again after the last time!! So I'm switching my current account (something I've wanted to do for a while but only now decided to actually follow through with), but I want to move to one who provide a good service. Does such a bank exist? If you've had a good experience with a bank, please vote in the poll and post below. |

First Direct were ace. Until I wasn't making enough to keep the account open, and things all went a bit wrong and they foreclosed the account. But they must have been good for me to be impressed with them even after they canned my account! |

Been with Natwest for over three years now, no problems to date. The branch staff all seem to know what they're doing, and I've not yet had a query that can't be dealt with there and then. I was with HSBC before, no real problems, but I just found them a bit faceless - I got the feeling if there'd been any problems I'd have had to fight my way through a wall of indifference. |

Been with Natwest a few years, a few problems and they customer support isnt amazing but good enough Been with Egg 2 years now, service is good, get calls on suspicious orders being placed online etc (Never questioned when I was in the USA though...) leaving them soon as I think they are removing the cashback on their card and bumping up the interest rate Applied for a play.com card the other day, 2% effective cashback if bought on their site in vouchers, 0% for 9 months and some other perks |

Nationwide have always been good to me, never had any problems with them. HSBC on the other hand, as soon as something goes wrong, it's your fault...Not theirs... ![]() I've heard good things about Natwest from friends who have moved from HSBC and Halifax |

I opened a student account with natwest, thought my overdraft was set up as I signed all the paperwork etc, pay a cheque knowing full well it will go into my overdraft (no fees and no interest on the uni account) Cheque bounces twice, £105 in fees, went in and got rather angry with them, overdraft instated and charges cancelled, so yes they made a mistake.... but accepted it, no compensation though ![]() |

HSBC, nearly 20 years now. It was still the Midland Bank (the bank that likes to say "yes") when I joined it. ![]() I have personal and business accounts with them. There's a small branch in my local village which is handy. I would like to switch the Co-op, but I'd have to do it all online. I don't want to do any of my banking on the interweb, thanks. ![]() |

I'm with the Coop, and very happy so far. Then, nothings gone wrong yet so it's hard to judge. Most companies are OK until you need to talk to them.
Pretty sure it was Natwest my ex was with, or maybe it was the Halifax or someone else... anyway, I'd never use them because of the very bad experiences. Halifax messed me about with a credit card, so I wouldn't touch them anyway. Natwest messed me about with a mortgage, so I wouldn't touch them again. Midlands messed my mum about, so wouldn't use them either. |

Dammit! I want my interest back. We taxpayers bailed RBS out, didn't we? One of my account interest payments dropped from around £4 a month to less than a penny. I blame RBS for that. Bratty, you owe me £20. ![]() ![]() |

Nationwide is a Building Society rather than a bank but I opened a Top Saver account when I was 11 and have been with them in some shape or form ever since, even kept my ISA when I lived in the US. I've never had bad service from them, I do online banking now and apart from it sometimes taking a day or so for the account to catch up to the balance it's been great. I've (likewise) heard good things about the NastyWesty, some of my family bank there, and my Fella, hated every moment of HSBC and wasn't earning enough to get really good treatment from Lloyds (who loved my parents!!) The whole business has got very faceless now which is one of the reasons I like the Wide, I have a person in a branch who knows my name without prompting and gives me the service I ask for. |

As is Halifax, though they act very bankish... |

Halifax de-mutualised, it's now a bank, and it's also now owned by Lloyds TSB. I currently bank with Lloyds, I quite like them. Although I do want to change to a Building Society instead at some point. |

When did that happen? As far as I know they weren't a bank as of three years ago...Actually, it may be four or five years ago... Building societies generally give better interest, as they generally favour their customers more than their share holders...Or that's what I've been told by various people... |
