There seem to be a few things you can do with an iPad which can save you some cash. Post them and sinus in this thread. I very much like the look of this DIY stylus. http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2010/0 ... tylus.html I am trying to see if I have some of that foam he's talking about. |

I saved some cash by not buying an iPad. Does that count? ![]() |

I had a very quick play with one yesterday. It doesn't appear to have any kind of pressure information, which surely limits it's use to purely that of a pointing device and drastically reduces it's artistic application? That applies both to graphics, and to the music keyboard. |

Hmm, I can see a market in pens that will deliver pressure information. ![]() |

So could I. Does the iPad have a bluetooth interface for such things? I know it's very restricted on the iPhone, but I don't know what's permitted and what isn't. You'd also need pressure aware software, which would need to be approved by the Apple police. I guess for music you could have little bluetooth drum sticks, or just use real ones and get velocity data from the accelerometer ![]() |

The iPad does have Bluetooth, so a pressure transmit pen would be an inteesting thing tonhave. The problem would be drivers and the use of non Apple APIs. If pressure does happen this way, it would have to happen in a way that does not upset Apple, and in a way that the many and varied image editor app writers will all adopt. Anyway, the notion of having a stylus is indeed for draw g. You can, of course, draw on an iPad with your fingers, but it's not natural, so the idea of having a pen just plugs the gap for that particular use. |
