We've had the twitter/Facebook/Flickr threads, but how many of us blog?

I've been blogging for a little over two and a half years and find it quite fun, my blog doesn't go a day without at least one person/bot looking at it, and one post has well over 1,000 views.

Last summer I started using RSS and since then, I've been more interested in other people's blogs.

So, who here blogs and, why do you blog, and what is the address of your blog?

Starting off, mine is here:
hashbang0.com/blog
I like blogging about stuff I found out, stuff I probably put here in the Mac/OpenSource forums. I also blog about rants/musings which people can read or not read, since I have no regular commenters I don't feel hurt when they go uncommented :P

I suppose I do. After a couple of years of Twitter frenzy, I've started using Posterous, which is a blog I can just email to.

It's infrequent, and possibly badly informed, but some people seem to like it.

Nope.

TBH all of the ones I've stumbled across seem to be self absorbed sh1te.

Perhaps that doesn't apply to all.

Which blogs do people here follow? I don't attend my blog roll very regularly, but I do have Asphodelia's and a few others bookmarked.

It probably applies to mine. After all, that's pretty much the whole point of it

My "blog thread" has 8170 views, although I'd guess most of those were me and it's been running for over 3 years. It's address is http://forum.yourwired.net/index.php?showtopic=843 but you have to be a member of the silly forum to see it.

A typical entry tells you what I ate for tea, and how crap my day at work was.

I'm also on LJ but I've only posted a handful of times. Anyone else here on LJ? I know Zippy is, because she's one of my 2 friends on there, and the only one to ever update.

I'm also on MySpace. I have 3 posts in total, and the latest was, err, Monday, October 15, 2007:

It's been 15 months since my last entry.

Nothing interesting has happened :p

I like to write. I got the Twitter habit earlier this year.

Some of my blogging is self-absorbed sh1te! Most of it tends to be stuff of interest.

I blog personally - http://snaptophobic.posterous.com - where I waffle about photography and other stuff that interests me. The photography stuff tends to be passing on what little I've learned.

I also blog professionally - http://britstockphoto.posterous.com - where I waffle about photography on behalf of a company I help run.

I also follow many blogs. Mostly hobby related and news/comment, with a few tech and cartoon/comic ones thrown in.

So, while much of the blogosphere contains the above-mentioned self-absorbed sh1te, I think that may well be a rather narrow view of something that allows people to express themselves freely and share with a wider world. ;)

Heh.

If I've nothing to say, I don't make a post. It's that simple. I can go for days without updating the blog, then a whole host of stuff will happen in a day.

I only post stuff I find of interest, which I think others may find of interest, too. It's not the "dear Diary" kind of game for me.

I don't mean to be a blog basher, it just conjures up memories of Primary School and everyone having to write 'What I did this summer' essays. :D

Edit: Perhaps if I checked out some more I may find some of interest but probably only by people with expertese in a field.

As I said, I generally only post stuff I find of interest, stuff I want to rant about or stuff I want to remember.

I did the whole "Dear diary" type thing last year so I could remember everything I did while working at Sun as I knew I'd have to write a report on it when I got back to uni...

I think most people visit my blog via search engines as apposed to regularly reading it.

I used to have a blog on the old Custom PC site. They asked me to start when the site was a beta so the content was there when it went live. Now they're using Bit-Tech's site the blog for readers isn't an option. I've not done any other blogging.

I haven't voted as I use blogging software to add to the news section of our website. However, it's still in development and it won't be written as a blog as such. It was to go live on Friday, but I have two small things left to do and I'm on holiday at the moment.
