Anyone here shifted a motor on eBay?
I'm thinking of flogging the RS on here - it's already up on the Autotrader, just need to expand my horizons and potential audience.

I know, I was trying to put across it may be a waste of time advertising on ebay as people on ebay may assume you are a dodgy dealer as there are so many car dealing crooks on ebay ;)

Have you tried Auto Trader? A friend of mine has been looking for a newish BMW and has been looking on Autotrader It lists them by details area so local buyers can pop along. I had a look at the options for him. It will also give you a good idea of price. I have no idea of fees but they cant be any worse than eBay.

Alex said it's already on Autotrader, and eBay would be in addition to this.

Are you talking EBay auction or EBay classified?

I've sold 2 cars on their classified which is cheap and you can get a decent amount of pictures in your ad and the search engines not bad imo.

Time for some creative quoting...

In reply to Amnesia10 asking 'Have you tried Auto Trader?' bratty quoted the prof saying wrote:

Just making the point that nobody is perfect, bratty...

Also, prof... I've never sold a car, (or anything else for that matter) on ebay, but it can't hurt to advertise.

Did he go and look at it or just bid on it?

If he just bid on it then he's an idiot :)

Have you tried putting an advert in your local paper?
Though for every call you get about the car, you'll get two from car mags offering to advertise your car for a small fee.

I have sold a car and a motorcycle on ebay

The car was an MOT Failure and it would have cost more to put right than it was worth. I put (apart from a picture of the car) the MOT Failure notice and the last services receipt to show that it had been maintained. I got (what I thought) was a good price BUT the buyers did try and claim that they had only bid a lower amount – although funnily enough they had enough cash on them for the full amount

For the Bike (A 500cc Kawasaki) I but a load of pictures on with close-ups on any scratches plus a picture of the milometer and the last MOT & service. Again got a good price but the guy who bought it was a trader and tried when he arrived to beat me down. I told him I would report him to ebay and he paid up in full

Overall then buyers may try it on but I got more that I would have if don’t though classified

Information is then key – the more you give the more a buyer will trust you

Also I said in my advert that people could arrange attest ride / visit if they wanted
Oh yes a cash on collection only

Good Luck

That is way better than my suggestion!
