I just can't see the point. If 3D is a no cost option then it can sit there with the no cost "games" built into my TV. ![]() However can anyone see the point of 3D at home and paying £££s for the privilege? I for one will not be sat at home watching Big Brother in 3D whilst wearing unfashionable sunglasses on top of my prescription pair. ![]() |

I don't think it seems to have a big following anywhere, even in Japan. I don't fancy sitting at home with some stupid glasses on all the time. |

I had a go on a 42" LED 3D Samsung at the weekend and thought it was great and so did the kids but at the moment it's limited to a couple of films and the Premiership when the season starts on sky Sports. The glasses were powered and cost £80 each (2 sets came with the TV), they were comfortable and yes you looked a nob wearing them...... ![]() Roll on smelly vision... ![]() Thumbs up from me I'm afraid |

I think the most likely application for me would be occaisional Blu-Ray movies but mainly gaming. I'm not all that interested in the tech though and certainly wouldnt rush out to buy one. Maybe when the next gen consoles are released. |

I could imagine gaming in 3D. It's just the thought of using glasses constantly that puts me off. |

What about a 3D chip implanted straight into the optic nerve? |

IMO it's just a crappy fad that needs to die out sooner rather than later. I don't care if people have already shelled out for a TV, if they can't wait to see if a technology will mature then tough luck. Anyone remember the 12" laserdisc? |

And you're never scripted to end up with the exceptionally attractive female lead character ![]() |

Some of us write our own programs. ![]() Mind you I still have to script in the latex wearing aspect of the program. I had the script in early versions but the character was non-existent. ![]() |

The thing is.. it's not actually 3D is it? It's not like some hologrammy thing that you can walk into and happens around you like 'surround sound for the eyes'. It's just 2D with a faked marginal sense of depth perception. It's actually no more '3D' that those things I used to play with as a kid that were like slide projectors built in to a pair of binoculars and used layers in the slides and having slightly different versions for left & right to make things look like they had depth... God, what were they called? Bright red plastic thing that looked like a pair of square field glasses and you got the slides on a paper wheel and you put the wheel in the top and it had a black handle that you pushed down to move on to the next one. This should really be in the 'things that only you remember' thread shouldn't it? Jon |
