I've seen about 2/3 of them, Gattaca & Silent Running are under appreciated? They are classics of the genre... ![]() There are a couple of other brilliant pieces in there, although I haven't seen the first 2. |

I'm really pleased to say I haven't seen all of this list. Though it's by no means an exhaustive list, it is a good start. I haven't seen #4 Primer. I'm a little sketchy on the details of #5 A Boy and His Dog but I think I saw it when I was much younger. Mark |

I think by under appreciated they mean it wasn't a box office smash, they are probably comsidering the money knowing hollywood. Of these films I haven't seen existenz or a boy and his dog. As I consider all of the others very good films I must make sure I see them in the near future. It's nice to see The Hidden in there, I have a copy of that on VHS somewhere. ![]() |

Dark City was forgotten unfairly, I felt. It came out a year before The Matrix but was heavily overshadowed by it. |

Interesting list. I've only seen half of them and was thinking about trying to find a copy of The Hidden to let my other half see it. I don't quite get why Pitch Black is 'under-appreciated' as it is very well known and a lot of people like it even though personally I thought it was quite a poor film. I thought Gattaca wasn't supposed to be any good so have never bothered but I'll give that one a go. |

The few films I've seen on that list, I feel pretty 'meh' about. Pitch Black - whenever I see it, I always enjoy it more than I thought I was going to. Moon was an really interesting, original idea but something was missing, IMHO. Sunshine was ok. Wasn't awful, but could've been better. Why isn't Lost in Space (1998) on this list? ![]() |

They're all still pretty big films though? Seen 7 of the 10, and I might hunt down the others now out of curiosity. Off the top of my head I can think of a few others I'd have in the list. Eden Log & Renaissance should definitely be in there. |

Have to disagree. This blew me away with it's originality, two central performances from Rockwell and Spacey (as a computer!) and the subtext. More than all of that, it was a throwback to when sci-fi was about more than explosions and I loved that! Equilibrium is a good film in it's own way, but it's largely due to Sean Bean, Christian Bale and the context they are placed in. The actual plot is a little thin. I loved eXistenZ, but I watched it on VHS years later, not a month after The Matrix. In fact, a month after The Matrix, I was still thinking about and digesting The Matrix. Haven't seen Gattaca, so that needs to go on my list. |

I've seen Gattaca, Sunshine and Pitch-Black and while I can't say that I would be bothered about seeing any of them again, the general hype surrounding Pitch-Black (sequels and games) makes me think that I must have missed something the first time around. I'm not even sure if I've heard of the others, but I definitely haven't seen any of them. |

I absolutely love Sunshine up to the ending, then it's God awful IMO. |

The only one of those I've seen is Equilibrium. It was mediocre. |

I have seen some of the films there - I’ll try to dig out the others at some point. I wasn’t aware of the David Bowie link to Moon - a rarity in these days of explosions, chase plots and running gun battles. |
