Post subject: | Milk in tea |
Morning all, For years I had milk in my tea, I have drunk copious amounts of tea from a relatively young age. Last summer having milk in my tea really turned my stomach, I thought it was the water at the time, but after a few weeks without, and then going back to having black tea, I found I didn't upset my tummy anymore... The thing is, I can happily drink a ping of milk (have done just now) and feel fine... What's wrong with milk in tea? |

Nothing's wrong with milk in tea generally, the protein in the milk denatures the harmful stuff in tanins that can cause cancer and (I find) makes for a more pleasant taste than the sharp tang of black tea. Having said that, I know plenty of people who enjoy tea black and there's no reason why not. It's possible that your taste has changed and that you can't tolerate the milk in tea anymore, again, that's perfectly normal, and possibly it's the combo of the tea and milk that makes your stomach turn, whereas regular milk on it's own isn't an issue. Peoples tastes and tolerances do change over time so it could just be that you're in a black tea derinking phase at the moment. |

I don't drink much tea, but when I do drink it I have it black. Black but weak, and with a little bit of honey and it's delicious. I won't go anywhere near a milky tea. |

Thanks! ![]() Quite topical... The tea machine spat out two cups, one with a drink in it, the other with just a tea bag and the powdery crap at the bottom, so I took the extra tea bag and used it to make a double strength brew... very nice ![]() |

I've always had very strong tea...The purple one drinks her tea out of a pint sized mug, half tea, half milk... I could never drink tea like that...Disgusting! |

Ew!! I drink Assam and I like it quite strong without too much milk, I can't stand milky tea or coffee, it remind me of my grandmother who puts about an inch of milk into any cup ![]() |

bobbdobbs pic clearly shows why I haven't drunk tea with milk in it for over 25 years ! I never could get what part of "just a tiny bit of milk" people had difficulty understanding. |

Generally I just tell people that I'll add my own milk as I cannot trust them not to [LIFTED] it up! |

We drink Assam milk 2 sugars, and if we're having a light lunch we'll have Darjeeling with a splash of milk. The other half usually has Chai, I can't stand the cinnamon. |
