I've spent ages looking for a washing powder and fabric softener that doesn't smell all flowery and feminine.

Does such a thing exist? I want a washing powder that makes my clothes smell like a man!

Instead, they always come out smelling flowery and feminine. Which is crap.

You could always throw in another chemical that might give of a butch smell like car oil or blood like you work in a hectic A&E? ;)

I can't use washing powder, but I do use conditioner that I don't think is very girly. I couldn't tell you what it is, though, and I'm in the wrong place now. My interweb is about a mile from my food, washing and sleep facilities.

I wash my clothes to get rid of the man smell

The last conditioner I used was a fairly nutural one, Sainsbury's ultra concentrated "pure" scent free or something like that.

Of course, "real men"® wash their clothes with creosote and bricks. Or rather, they make some bitch do it.

I use Fairy non-bio Gel. Its mainly because of the baby but I find it smells quite neutral. Its on offer from time to time too making it much better value. For softner I tend to chose something with words like like 'cotton' and 'baby soft'. I find they're not as perfumed.

No doubt my dad 'gurned' at my ma and ours is utterly scentless (though I don't care so long as I don't smell like a whore's handbag)

I remember a newspaper story about a guy that used to wash in petrol by candlelight... Thing is, it was the fumes that ignited that one fatal time

I use Lenor Summer Breeze or Cherry Blosom. I love the smell. Feminie? Nah, it is a fresh smell of "nature", nothing to do with feminine or masculine... :?

I use a simple detergent, with the same sort of fragrance.

Softener? You want your clothes to smell like a man but still want your fabric to be nice and cuddly and not all scratchy round the armpits?

Wash your clothes in the river with pure biodegradable soap.

So what's the consensus? There is no such product, but that's cool 'cos we like our clothes smelling floral? :?

I hate the floral stuff too, but couldn't find anything better. In the end I've gone for Lavender as being not floral but still reasonable smelling. I haven't found anything yet that smells of "nothing" and even the "clean laundry" smelling stuff is revolting. I buy Ecover washing liquid (lavender) and the tesco own brand softener (also in lavender) the smell is quite subtle but still "clean"
