not that I care if it is but Ive found a method to get free diesel fuel  theres a few pumps, usually the older models that dont quite work as they should? theres a pump I can go to and if I put the nozzle in the fuel tank facing full downwards without squeezing all this diesel comes running out for a few seconds, I then extend the hose and lift up the hose and even more comes out and the readin reads "£0.00" 8-) last time I did it the lady was watching me so it seems risky :(. Another trick I do in the asda ones is you put the nozzle in as normal and quickly squeeze it really hard then off again then you precisly squeeze it a tiny bit so you can feel the pump vibrate and drips of fuel is coming out :) its very slow but at least its free fuel  anyone else tried similar tricks?

probably works with petrol pumps too?

Theft of fuel is always a crime

Of course it's illegal, and typically, those that steal make the rest of us pay more!

I usually lift the hose after filling the old girl to ensure the fluid trapped in the hose goes in.

All it is doing is getting the fuel that you have paid for that is stuck in the hose. Nothing illegal about it.

He's probably right actually. if it's the residual fuel in the hose and you just used the pump normally, that fuel would be pushed out (into your fuel tank) by the first stuff you actually pay for. However equally when you've finished there will be fuel left in the hose which you've paid for but hasn't been dispensed to you. The next person gets that as a 'freebie' but also loses some at the end and so on and so on. In the end everything is pretty much squared up.

You lot are so eccentric.

Post subject:  Re: Is this illegal?

That's not the impression I got, from his (unusually) ambiguous post

It sounded as though he's using the idiosyncracies of older pumps to get fuel out of the system that isn't to do with the extra left in the pipe. I'm not so hard up that I begrudge the next person the 3 or 4p that's hanging in the pipe when I finish, but from his post it sounded like he was patiently squeezing extra little drips out of the pump that woudn't normally be there.

Let's face it, that fact that it's Bratty asking means it's never going to be as straightforward as we think.

I love bratty. He's so terribly eccentric in a not very normal way.
