Festival tickets money back

Postby tombolt » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:18 pm

Does anyone know if I'm likely to be able to get a refund on some tickets for The Big Chill? I've gone and torn my achilles tendon, so there's no way I'll be able to go to the festival.

I have fairly good home insurance and bought the tickets on a credit card, but I'm not hoping for much from them. Are tickets covered in the 14 day online cooling off period? If so, I could change my mind and send 'em back I guess.

Spoke to Consumer Direct and tickets don't come under the distance selling regs, so am going to have to appeal to the suppliers better nature. As they say no on their Terms and Conditions, I'm not holding out much hope!

Can you sell the tickets on?

Is it an Egg card?

Egg give ticket cover so you can get a refund if you can't make it for a legit reason :)

You should be covered for both. 14 days distance selling if you bought online, and the medical. The credit card Insurance should cover that.

As stated earlier, DSRs don't apply to ticket sales, amongst other things (such as personalised and perishable items).

Yeah, checked all the avenues mentioned and no go. Got the tickets up on scarlet mist and another ticket site and fingers crossed. Might apply for an egg card in future.

Cheers for the get wells, too!

It's just one of those things, but £175 a ticket really rankles, they ought to really allow refunds with a doctor's note I think. :x

Crikey is that what they are costing these days?!?!?

Are there costs involved for reselling the tickets, and if so how bad?

I guess it is a lot but then if you consider something like Glastonbury you get camping and a few days of music, and the chance to see many acts that would be too expensive to see individually. It does make sense, plus it is an experience so can be fun as well.

As well as free parking if you go by car, and the facilities they provide over a normal gig

Haven't done festivals in a couple of years but fancy a big one next time, like the ones in Germany :)

I was looking at the last Glastonbury festival as an example. Four days of music plus arriving a day early giving you five days, works out at £35 per day for camping and parking. Plus all the acts you can get to see. If you managed 18 hour days you could see literally dozens of acts that would cost a lot more to see individually. Overall it would represent great value for money on that basis alone.
