Post subject:  pc flooded with trojans etc
need to type very fast! :( I got a winxp update yesterday and its got this antivir solution pro thing? and antimalware doctor? are these offical products of microsoft? all of a sudden im getting warnings and popups that my pc is seriously infected, I cant use these new spyware programs as it says I got to register, I try that but it wont let me use IE. and IE keeps going to "erectile dysfuncion" website as its homepage wtf? I Havn't downloaded any dodgy stuff atall on my pc so it doesnt make sense. what to do??? I cant even use paint as it warns me ms paint is infected, now on the bottom right its saying "Antivirus software alert" "your computer is being attacked by an internet virus. It could be a password stealing attack, a trojan - dropper or similar.

and its saying a hacker attack trying to get on my facebook pop3, paypal etc WTF???????????????????????????????? help..........

Microsoft's only has a free solution, Microsoft Security Essentials, and you need to download it seperately ( http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ ).

Did the patch download through automatic updates? Sounds suspicious... :? Or did you find a link somewhere for a "patch"?

Edit: It sounds like scareware. Your best bet is to download a free AV scanner on another machine and install it on a USB stick (one THAT HASN'T BEEN STUCK IN YOUR MACHINE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS) or a live Linux CD with AV software installed (E.g. Knoppix).

thank god its not affecting firefox. its a fake trojan I think, its so annoying, It said security update as normal and it all happaned all after restart of pc

Oh god, I have had that one a couple of times. If you can download and use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in safe mode, try that, and also a general virus scan. If you can't, and you can't download anything or transfer it to that computer from a different machine, then reformatting and reinstalling the OS was the only option. I did backup all the files I needed, after the computer was infected, and the infection didnt spread across to the re-installation, so you should be fine there.
Don't worry you are not being hacked, it is merely to try and get you to pay, and your details etc should be fine. And yes, the program was installed with the bogus update.

BTW, I am not really a techie, so if anyone contradicts what I say here, go with them.

Actually, it is a phishing scam disguising itself as a trojan ;)

NOD32 :(

@Nick: I was meaning on the context what the trojan was doing was "fake" as it isint really going into my paypal and facebook etc (I hope)

Its not even letting me ctrl alt and delete, and It stops me from installing that program big_D, so my pc is pretty much screwed? :(

Have you tried a Safe Mode restart and scan with NOD32 there?

or if your motherboard supports booting from removable media you can use damnsmalllinux to get in run some sort of antivirus on the drive

k i restarted pc, managed to close off this spyware program and now Im installing the thing bigD gave me, all looks going well :)

Then do some checks for malware. I cant remember many but adaware is good.

Had a few people come to me with the same problem, I ran advance sytem care, iObit security and CC cleaner through their PC's and it sorted it out.
