I've never been fussed about which cinema I go to when watching a film. As I go with mates, we go to wherever happens to be the closest cinema. This has usually ended up being the odeon. Never been fantastic but not bad. Until a while back when I saw The Dark Knight and had issues with sound cutting out at the beginning. Same thing happened with the A-Team.
Most films I'm happy to watch at home but with big blockbusters, I want the full experience of huge screen, amazing sound and comfortable seating. I from now on refuse to use the odeon.
What other cinemas would you recommend?
I'm in Birmingham. Have been to the Vue cinema which is okay, better than odeon but not amazing. AMC? Showcase? Empire? Vue?
Has anyone been to any of these and had good things to say?
I'm based East si-ide. I think. Round Sheldon/Yardley.
We were debating going to Broad Street but because watching the A-team had been a last minute decision (ie once I had parked in the car park and paid for the ticket), we ended up going to New Street Odeon.
The two out of town ones in Derby are crap. However we've just got a new one in the Westfield shopping centre in town. It's much better by virtue of the fact it has a drop between the rows so other people's heads aren't a problem.
The lighthouse in Aberdeen is good for the same reason. (name changed?)
Doncaster only has crappy cinemas.
