I've been thinking for a while of dropping MSN as I rarely use it, and people I know rarely use it.
It made me wonder, in this age of mass communication, who here uses instant messaging and what service(s) do you use?

I regularly use IRC, and still occasionally log into MSN, I use Skype every now and again.
I cannot stand Facebook chat!

I thought Google was Jabber, not AIM. *shrug*
Anyway, when I use it, I use pieChat (did you see what I did there?).

I use MSN sometimes, not as much as I used to. I used to use iChat when I had my Mac but now I don't cos I can't remember my username nad password to use it in AIM. I sometimes use Facebook chat too.

Ah yes, seems I didn't do my research right!
I also forgot the obligatory pie/no options on the poll...

On freenode I frequent #opensolaris, #perl, ##freebsd, #illumnos
On irc.mozilla.org I frequent #camino
There is also a server that some of the Aber students use, I frequent that too.

How about yourself? I mainly use Freenode for giving/getting help, most of the channels aren't for general chat (though they often end up that way)

I tend to geek it out on the KDE and opensuse channels. When I can be bovvered that is.

Thought: would setting up an X404 IRC channel be a good idea do you think?

I reckon that'd be a cracking idea! Instant chatter and help! Shall I look into it?

Sounds good to me.

You might want to do a poll first though

EDIT: and you might want to ask Saspro

Not any more.

In the days of 56K/early BB, I used to use MSN, AIM and Yahoo. MSN for friends. AIM because AOL is the ISP we first used to go online. Yahoo for those girls I used to chat up from Yahoo chat. Used to use IRC for chatting to folks on another forum on a weekly basis.

I remember using some program that accessed all of them. Tribbian? Truvian? Something like that. That was quite cool. But then I stopped using AIM because we had moved on to freeserve. The forum disbanded hence I stopped using IRC. I stopped chatting up girls on Yahoo a year later because I didn't have enough time. Hence stuck with MSN for a long while.

With the advent of Facebook, I stopped MSN and stuck to FB. But even with that, I used to spend so much time on it, it was detrimental to my studies and eventually, I stopped using it completely. Didn't commit FB suicide but I don't use it any more.

Occasionally use MSN via Adium but I can't actually remember the last time I launched it.

I have accounts on most of the main services (ICQ, Skype, MSN, Yahoo!, Apple, Google), but I rarely use them these days. Skype is on a lot, for calls with the family and friends, but IM is very rare.

I've used IRC, but since I stopped beta testing openSUSE, I don't join the SUSE channels...

I am the same have accounts on all the services on Adium, but must be a year since I used it. I am simply too busy to spend time on it.
