I wanted to try copying books of music into pdf format.

One friend had some success by taking photos with a small camera and then converting them to black and white pdf format.

My question, on a Mac what would be the best way to convert say 50 photos into 50 pdfs or indeed one multi page pdf?

I would need to do this for lots of books of music. So a time saving method would be welcome.

I found an standard Automator script that takes loads of files and outputs a PDF from them.

I can't remember where I found it now. :?

Launch Automator and do something like this CC:
Clicky

Find the first item under "Finder" on the far left and drag it to the left, then you can see what I chose for converting to PDF.

Save as follows:
File > Save as plug-in...
Make sure Finder is selected and give it a name...

Use the script by selecting(highlighting) the image icons, ctrl-click > more > automator > script-name

You may like to play with the settings :)

HTH :)

I think Sibelius can also scan scores using Photoscore, if you've already got that CC. Would give you a more editable format, if you wanted to tinker with them a bit.

It can, but is not that good really. There are a lot of errors in the transcription and many ornaments and symbols are not recognised. You also have to have a particular strain of TWAIN to make it work at all. I have not tried the latest version of PS but I have the previous one and I was not that impressed.

Thanks for the thought though.

The aim of this exercise is to have a rough copy of the music to hand to the student who is learning to sing it. They then mark on where to breath, where the tricky intervals are and suchlike. I will have all the pdfs tagged up in YEP for easy access.
