Apparently it was planned to come to Europe later this year but the dire US sales have killed that prospect.

It's the problem with too many fingers in too many pies, too slow to react to the market.

Takes too long to bring an idea to market when they announce it too early also, gives the competition time to react.

And a fragmented team not focussed on a collective aim.

Mind it's not blood on the iphone screen, it's the sidekick.

That being said the carrier it was on didnt help, charged full smartphone prices and put it on a smartphone plan when it wasnt aimed at that market, priced it out of reach of those that wanted an alternative to the sidekick

Yes, they spent too long working on replacing their Sidekick and hadn't noticed, that the market had moved on in the meantime and weren't using these feature phones any more, but had sidestepped them for real smartphones.

Yes a litany of problems for Microsoft to overcome.

Simplifying their interests and range would be good but tough to admit that they over extended themselves. It might have been better to concentrate on the phones user experience first then develop a handset or get a contractor to do that aspect.

Haven't you read the thread? It was never intended to be an iPhone killer. It was a replacement for their Sidekick, but the market has now moved on and nobody wants feature phones, they want smart phones, hence the lack of sales.
