I upgraded to the new version of iTunes yesterday. Today, I downloaded a free app to my iPhone. I've just started up iTunes again and, without plugging the iPhone in to sync, iTunes automatically downloaded a copy of the app and stuck it in the 'apps' section. Which is nice.
